Therapy for Repeating Relationship Patterns
Understanding relational patterns and issues
A lot of adults come to therapy because they keep noticing the same patterns in their relationships, feeling responsible for everyone else, having a hard time asking for help, pulling away when things get tense, or repeating dynamics they understand intellectually but can't seem to break free from emotionally.
Psychodynamic therapy gives you space to explore how your early relational experiences still influence how you connect with people, protect yourself, and navigate closeness today.
How does our attachment style affect our relationships?
Attachment patterns usually develop early, shaped by family roles, cultural expectations, and your experiences of closeness or distance growing up. These patterns aren't flaws, they're adaptive responses that made sense at the time and helped you cope.
Over time, they might show up as:
Having trouble trusting people or letting them support you
Being afraid of conflict or of being rejected
Taking on too much in relationships
Feeling unseen or misunderstood even when you're close to someone
Therapy helps you bring these patterns into the light with curiosity, not judgment.
My relational approach
When you sit with me, you don’t have to hold it all together, put on a brave face, or pretend you have all the answers. I practice from a relational and psychodynamic perspective, which simply means I care deeply about the real human connection we build together.
Often, the exact patterns that exhaust you in your outside life, like feeling like you always have to be the responsible one, or quietly hiding your own needs, will naturally show up in our sessions, too. That is completely okay. In fact, it's exactly where the healing happens. Together, we will gently look at these long-standing habits without judgment. Our space becomes a warm, steady workshop where you can safely practice letting your guard down, speaking your truth, and building the emotional ease to bring that same authenticity back into your everyday life.
